Timothy Osborne WILSON
recommended by Mary Padget
:
I had a vaginal hysterectomy by Dr. Timothy Wilson of Mayo Clinic, Rochester in January of 2002. My local ob/gyn told me a vaginal was not possible as my fibroids had grown too large. He wanted to do abdominal surgery. Dr. Wilson did it vaginally with no problems. Dr. Wilson was wonderful about answering my questions and even let me back out of surgery once..answered more questions, and then performed the surgery when I requested. I firmly believe that your life after hysterctomy has a great deal to do with the surgeon who performed the hysterecomty. I had no complications or resulting problems in 5 years. Dr. Wilson is patient, kind, and VERY knowledgeable.

Very kind, knowlegable, rewlly listens and actually returns phone calls in a timely manner. Very gentle and genuinely wants the best for his patients. Was very good at calming my nerves before my procedure, I had a tumor and it was removed via a supracervical procedure. Is willing to help when the patient is unsure and does not impose opinions, but offers several choices to any situation. This is my personal experience, and others that know him have also highly recommended him.

Dr. McNabb practices gynecology only. After several years of dealing with other doctors, she took my issues seriously. She performed a hysterectomy on me and I was very pleased with the results. After the other doctors suggested my fibroids were the only problem, causing extensive bleeding, she tried several options - DNC, birth control pill - before performing hysterectomy. The final results showed adenomyosis.
She is very personable and spends the time necessary to get to know you and address any issues you may have.

Prior to seeing Dr. DaVanzo, I was hospitalized repeatedly on a yearly basis due to the symptoms of Bi-Polar disorder. When I began seeing her she suggested medications that she had found were more effective than the ones that I was on. She provided me w/ her cell phone number to contact her in case of emergency. I have only been hospitalized once since 2002 and that was actually due to a medication that was given to me after my hysterectomy and not the Bi-Polar Disorder. Dr. DaVanzo is a very compassionate dr and genuinly cares about her patients. I have since moved 425 miles away and have decided to continue seeing her as I don't want to have to risk getting a dr that is not of the same calibre that she is.

This doctor was suggested to me by the doctor who discovered that I had cancer of the uterus. She assisted Dr. Feurer during my surgery and she stated that he completed the operation in half the time it would have taken her. He only operates on patients with cancer and he is considered the best in his field. Although he is a bit shy he is a wonderful man.

Barbara Conner BIGGS
recommended by Barbara Woelper
:
I have been a patient of Dr. Biggs for many years and she is by far the most caring and thorough of any doctor of have known. Aside from the excellent general care I have received she listened to my quiet voice about a small pressure that I was experiencing in an area where your leg connects to the body at the top of the thigh.
She said it was probably nothing but followed through and it was discovered that I had cancer of the uterus. Within two weeks I had a complete hysterectomy. Because it was caught so early there were no other treatments. There is no question that she saved my life.

I have been Dr. Henson's patient for over 20 yrs. She has also treated my daughter since age 8, and my daughter (now 26) remains her patient as well. Dr, Henson is very proactive in finding out what is going on if I express concern about something that "isn't normal" for me, and she always takes the time during office visits to review my history. She asks questions about conditions I've experienced previously, and gives me enough time to ask her questions. She also considers the "whole person" and not just the symptoms, and recommends holistic as well as medical remedies. She prescribes medications cautiously and always starts out with the lowest possible dosage if she can. However, she is very aggressive about ordering tests or making referrals to specialists if she suspects anything. Whenever she has referred me to a specialist, I've always been equally as happy with the specialists she has referred me to.

I first saw Dr. Watts after four years of unexplained abdominal/pelvic area pain. I had seen 4 gynecologists in 3 states, two hospital visits for excruciating pain, an exploratory laparoscopy and 3 years of "just making it through the day" by Lortab. Every time I went to a doctor/hospital they couldn't determine what my problem was and sent me home with pain pills. They made me feel that it was all in my head. I hate taking pain pills - you hear all about addiction all the time so I would only take the pills if I was flat down unable to walk or function. Several times I would be going along and the pain would be so sharp that it literally brought me to my knees. I hated to go to the hospital or doctor because there was never a reason for the pain and I had been told that there was no other test or course of action... I had done it all and there was still no explaination for the pain.
When I saw Dr. Watts, he took the time to listen to all of my issues, what tests I'd had and... [More..]

Technically speaking, I was his patient several years ago. The good thing is that the care I recieved from him was nothing short of excellent. The bad news is that I have moved a couple of times since then, and all of my doctors have had the task of living up to my experience with him. I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer at age 31, and had a hysterectomy. The whole process was pretty traumatic, but I am incredibly thankful to have had him as my doctor. He is kind, skilled, knowledgeable, and has a sense of humor that is comforting. He is an excellent communicator, and although my visits were generally short, I never felt rushed, or like he didn't have time to listen to and address my concerns. My only issue with any part of my experience with Dr. Stohs was the decoration in his office. Honestly, if I have to talk about office decor to talk about something less than ideal, that's a good thing.

I have been Dr. Kaump's patient for 19 years. During that time he has seen me through a lot of serious health issues as well as 2 miracle babies. When I first went to him I was desperate for answers and in a lot of pain. Although it took him and the other doctors he contacted 5 years, he did not stop until he found an answer and solved the problem; my diagnosis was rare. Never once did he ever turn his back on me or my family, no matter how much I whined and drove him crazy, and trust me I did. After he repaired the fistula was determined to have another child, out of determination I contacted an infertility specialist out of the area. Most doctors would not stay involved, but he did and when I became pregnant he opened his arms to caring for the baby and I; 9 months later I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy who has his name. He held my son like he was his own, all 3 of us (my husband, Dr. Kaump, and myself) had tears of joy. Then when I got pregnant with our 5th child, he again stood... [More..]

Dr. Feuille has been my doctor for 20 years. He handled two of my three pregnancies and then my hysterectomy. He is considered the best doctor to go to for anything high-risk, yet he is super patient and caring to average cases also! He is very tuned in to "quality of life" issues versus what the insurance people say "should" happen. It really helps that he can answer questions about insurance, because finance was a stressor for me. He also brings up pre and post-surgery sexual matters, and my husband appreciated knowing these things too. Eddie is a great listener, very calm and comforting. The other ob/gyns in his practice group are fine for substitutes if Eddie is out for a delivery, so I recommend this group highly. They are located right across the street from Wesley Hospital.

Dr. Maikis is a wonderful, compassionate and caring doctor. She makes you feel comfortable talking with her. She also made my husband a part of everything that was going on and never made him feel left out. His decisions mattered to her. I had been having continuous problems and uncaring doctors. I got referred to Dr. Maikis and got the most care and understanding from her. At this time, I was living 2 hours from her, but it didn't matter because of the care I was getting.
Recently, I began having pain. I hadn't seed her in 2 years, but she immediately returned my call and said she would see me the next day. The most important thing to me is that she remembered who I was even after 2 years.
I live over 3 hours from Nashville, but will go to her again if need be. She is the only doctor my husband trusts with me. That's saying a lot, because he trusts no doctor.
I highly recommend her!

He is an expert in endometrosis. He is the FIRST OB/GYN who actually took the time to listen to my symptoms and to really care about what was going on with my health. He is an excellent surgeon, a very caring person and an all around terrific doctor. I can't recommend him highly enough.

Dr. Romeo diagnosed the labral tear in my hip on my very first visit to him. I had been searching for the answer to my pain for six years prior, and had undergone endless tests, physical therapy, medication regimens, to no avail. He did everything possible to save me from hip replacement, but ultimately it was neccessary in order to resolve all the problems that were revealed in further testing. While his bedside manner leaves a bit to be desired, his skill, confidence and ability to diagnose and ultimately resolve the problem is second to none. He is my hero!

Ramsey John FAKHURI

Dr. Fakhuri has been my elderly grandmother's primary physician for the past 5 years. He is generous with his time and energy, patient beyond expectations and more empathetic than any doctor I've known. Dr. Fakhuri has made house calls to see my grandmother when her arthritis or the winter weather made it nearly impossible for me to get her out of the house and to his office. When she fell and broke her wrist in her home, he came that very night and had ordered a portable x-ray technician to see her by the next morning. My grandma has dementia and Dr. Fakhuri has worked very closely with me and her psychiatrist to find just the right medications. Sadly, last year my grandmother had to enter a nursing home, but Dr. Fakhuri is on the staff there and continues to see her regularly. He has never once failed to pick up his phone or return my call despite being popular and having many, many patients. When discussing my grandma's care he will often say "if it were my grandma" and he re... [More..]

Dr. Levine performed a myomectomy on me in 2004. After an exhaustive search, I discovered him in a "Best Doctors" list and was not disappointed. Having already visited several OB/GYNs who were recommending hysterectomy to remove my very large fibroids, Dr. Levine's first suggestion was myomectomy. My surgery took many hours due to the size and type of fibroids I had, but I came through with flying colors thanks to his experience and skill. He has a bedside manner that inspires confidence and patiently answered my many anxious questions leading up to and post-surgery. Because he teaches at the hospital - and has for many years - his ability to explain even the most obscure concepts in understandable terms is noteworthy. He is well-known and sometimes there is a long wait to see him but it has always been worth it to me.

Dr. Crandall is an OB/GYN in Naples, Florida. He was the first physician in the Naples area to offer Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy. His mind is brilliant and he is excellent clinically and is easy to talk to. He takes his time explaining things and is up on the latest research on hormone therpy. After my hysterectomy the day I was to go home from the hospital, I couldn't urinate after they discontinued the foley catheter. I was in agony and was waiting for the nurse to come and recath me. Dr. Crandall physically came to the hospital from his nearby office to put the foley back in! He is awesome. He told me after the hysterectomy I could even call him at home if I had any problems or questions. He also has a background in internal medicine and now his son has joined him in his practice who is a urogynecologist. His son is awesome as well.
